MountainOne Brings Award-Winning Storybook Program to Brayton Elementary

MountainOne’s Storybook Team recently joined the afterschool program at Brayton Elementary School in North Adams, bringing smiles, stories, and early financial lessons to local students. As part of the visit, students enjoyed a lively reading of two illustrated storybooks featuring Mo The MountainOne Spokesgoat.

Mountaineers Brenda Petell, Jennifer Field, and Betsy Kapner led engaging readings of “How to Climb a Mountain” and “Something to Save”, the first two books in MountainOne’s award-winning series. The stories promote literacy and introduce young readers to important life lessons, including overcoming fears to reach goals, being prepared for the unexpected, and building healthy saving habits.

A highlight of the event was a special appearance by Mo the Spokesgoat, who delighted students with “high hoofs,” hugs, and plenty of photo ops.

Following the readings, students enjoyed snacks courtesy of Mo and participated in fun, hands-on activities that introduced basic financial concepts in a playful and age-appropriate way.

“It was great to spend time with the students and share Mo’s storybooks,” said Brenda Petell, Vice President, Community Engagement Officer at MountainOne. “The books make it easy to introduce important lessons about saving and setting goals in a way that’s both fun and meaningful for kids.”
